Brevard Zoo welcomes over 465,000 guests annually, 45% of which are tourists from outside Florida and the US. The Zoo has an annual economic impact exceeding $59.5 million while earning 90% of its funds through admission-related income. Brevard Zoo is a Top Thirty Zoo in this year’s US News and World Report and has achieved an accreditation from the Assoc. of Zoos and Aquariums – less than 10% of the 2,800 exhibitors licensed by the USDA meet this rigorous standard.
For over 10 years, Artemis has been up to the challenge of designing, implementing, and supporting Brevard Zoo’s diverse and expansive infrastructure. With a broad range of business functions and a multitude of facilities spread across 56 acres, keeping Zoo staff and equipment connected presents ongoing technical and logistical challenges. Animal habitats, viewing platforms, administrative offices, veterinarian facilities, retail shops, zip line and rope courses, educational and conservation programs and facilities, frequent community events, and summer camps; the range of activities and functions is amazing and ever growing.
To support the Zoo’s mission and growth, a multi-year fiber backbone project and a recent mesh Wi-Fi project are establishing new connections and upgrading existing ones across the site. Artemis also provides a complete suite of technology management and support services that span the Zoo’s on premise network, private cloud, Office 365, hosted VoIP phone system, surveillance system, wireless network, audio / visual systems, cybersecurity, and facility security systems.
As Brevard Zoo grows, so does its commitment to conservation and education. With Artemis as its technology management partner, Zoo executives and staff count on Artemis to go the extra mile to help the Zoo tackle new challenges with innovative and cost-effective solutions and services.
